Stargate | Jack is Back for Stargate A.I. v2.0 – Watch the Full Video

See Stargate SG-1 stars Richard Dean Anderson as Jack O’Neill, Amanda Tapping as Samantha Carter, and Michael Shanks as Daniel Jackson in Stargate A.I. Version 2.0

The 98-minute video, which premiered for members of The Companion with a live watch party on 21st May 2022, reunites the three stars in character for the first time in 12 years to read new Stargate scenes generated by artificial intelligence.

Stargate A.I. Version 2.0 is hosted and narrated by Actor and Stargate SG-1 super-fan Marc Evan Jackson (Brooklyn 99, The Good Place, The Baby-Sitters Club) and takes place under the watchful eye of Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, and Stargate Universe co-creator Brad Wright, and Google A.I. Lead Laurence Moroney.

Laurence used multiple A.I. trained on existing Stargate screenplays to predict their character’s responses to different situations or dialogue, including one scene prompted by a Companion member.

“I really tried to focus on making the story more coherent, instead of it just randomly going off in crazy directions,” explained Moroney “And you can see signs of coherence there. And that was by bringing in something that’s called a large language model, which was trained on more than just Stargate scripts, but trained on like, generally how stories evolve and how stories are structured.”

Some cool moments to look out for in Stargate A.I. Version 2.0 include a super-cool visualization of Jack O’Neill’s “A.I. brain” which shows just how different he is when interacting with Samantha Carter, the artificial intelligence writing itself into the scene and giving itself a hell of a plot twist, and the moment that sent the slash community wild – Daniel Jackson in Jack’s cabin wearing only a bathrobe.

Then, of course, there’s just the sheer joy of seeing Richard Dean Anderson back in his element, bouncing off Amanda Tapping and Michael Shanks, as if they’d never been apart.

“Everybody knows here that I’m technical numbnuts in real life so this is like a fantasy world,” says Anderson.

Until Amazon gets a new Stargate series going, Stargate A.I. Version 2.0 hits the spot.

The last time the three characters appeared together was in the two-part finale to Stargate Universe’s first season in 2010, and Richard Dean Anderson’s last TV role was in 2013 when he made a hilarious cameo as himself in the ABC sitcom Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23.

Michael Shanks, Amanda Tapping, and Marc Evan Jackson previously took part in Stargate A.I. Version 1.0 last year. They were joined by two returning cast members from Stargate Atlantis, David Hewlett (The Shape of Water, Nightmare Alley, Clarice) as Rodney McKay, and Jewel Staite (Firefly, The Killing, Family Law) as Jennifer Keller.
