Until the great gears at Amazon start turning and give us a new Stargate series, we’ll have to make do with the classics. Fortunately, Stargate SG-1 gave us 10 seasons, two spin-offs (three if you count Stargate Infinity... which you don’t), and two direct-to-home movies (three if you count Stargate Origins... which you don’t).
Unfortunately, unless you still have your treasured DVD box set and still have a DVD player in 2023, it can be a full-time job trying to work out where to stream Stargate SG-1.
Luckily it’s my full-time job. You’re welcome.
Stargate SG-1 on Comet TV (US Only)
Stargate SG-1 is currently airing on Comet TV in the US. Comet TV’s business model was initially based on the MGM back catalog, but don‘t be surprised if this changes as Amazon tidies up the licensing agreements it inherited.
Comet TV is currently available free to view on *deep breath* Apple TV, FuboTV, YouTubeTV, Roku, Sling TV, Dish Network, and Sinclair's Stirr.
Stargate SG-1 on Amazon Prime Video
Stargate SG-1 is available for free with your Amazon Prime membership in the US. You can subscribe with a 30-day free trial – after that, you pay US $14.99 per month for the full Prime membership or $8.99 for Prime Video only. According to our pals at GateWorld, this is the 4:3 syndicated edition, including the original cut of the controversial pilot ‘Children of the Gods’ which is a bit crummy.
Despite the acquisition of MGM by Amazon, Stargate SG-1 hasn’t yet been bundled with the standard Amazon Prime package in all territories.
In the UK you can either buy single episodes for GBP £1.89 or a full season for GBP £14.99. You can also subscribe to MGM via Amazon Prime Video for £4.49 per month following a free trial, granting you access to the MGM back catalog so you can binge SG-1 to your heart’s content.
Stargate SG-1 on NOW TV (UK Only)
Stargate SG-1 is also available in the UK through NOW TV. The show has been syndicated to Sky MAX so you need the Now Entertainment Membership which costs you £9.99 a month.
Stargate SG-1 on iTunes
You can buy Stargate SG-1 season by glorious season on iTunes for USD $19.99/GBP £14.99, or buy the Complete Series for USD $99.99/GBP £89.99.
Be warned, that doesn’t include the straight-to-DVD movies Stargate: Continuum or Ark of Truth so ‘completeness’ is a little subjective.
Stargate SG-1 on Google Play (US Only)
Individual episodes of Stargate SG-1 are available for USD $1.99 on Google Play, whilst a full season costs you USD $19.99. There’s no capacity to buy the complete series, which neatly dodges the issue of whether or not to include the movies.
Why is it not available on Google Play in the UK? Your guess is as good as mine...
Stargate SG-1 on Pluto TV (US Only)
Back in March 2022, Pluto TV proudly announced an entire channel (channel 152) dedicated to continuously streaming the show.
That's 24/7 Stargate.
Whilst Stargate SG-1 seems to be US only, UK viewers can however stream Sanctuary and Dark Matter for free which isn’t to be sniffed at.
(I just learned that Pluto TV is a FAST, which means free ad-supported streaming television, and now you have too.)
The cost of your membership has allowed us to mentor new writers and allowed us to reflect the diversity of voices within fandom. None of this is possible without you. Thank you. 🙂
