Stargate | Amanda Tapping Talks SG-1’s Early Days and Travelers Reunion

Amanda Tapping catches up with Stargate SG-1 co-creator Brad Wright for his Conversations in Sci-Fi interview podcast.

🎧

Brad Wright – co-creator of Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, and Stargate Universe, and creator of Travelers on Netflix – hosts an intimate one-on-one interview with the multi-hyphenate actor, producer, and director, Amanda Tapping.

Tapping is arguably Wright’s closest collaborator, having played Samantha Carter over ten seasons and 208 episodes of Stargate SG-1, 25 episodes of Stargate Atlantis, and two episodes of Stargate Universe, as well as the movies Stargate: The Ark of Truth and Stargate: Continuum. She was reunited with Wright in 2016 when she directed nine episodes of his Netflix series, Travelers.

Outside of Stargate, Amanda Tapping is best known as Dr. Helen Magnus in Sanctuary (which she also produced), and Naomi in Supernatural. As a director, she has worked on shows as diverse as Primeval: New World, Continuum, Dark Matter, The Flash, and Batwoman, and is currently director and executive producer on Motherland: Fort Salem.

Over this 75-minute interview, the two recall her audition, share their memories of the late Don S. Davies, and address the problematic aspects of early Stargate SG-1 episodes, ‘Children of the Gods’ and ‘Emancipation’.
