Join us in looking back over some of the highlights from 2022, and what we’re looking forward to in 2023.
It’s Lawrence here, co-founder of The Companion and sometimes host of our Stargate and Star Wars events. I hope you’ve had a wonderful holiday break and wish you a wonderful start to 2023!
We’ve always said The Companion is more than just a content platform; it’s the coming together of a fan community, and we weren’t kidding. Your feedback (in places like our Discord) impacts what we prioritize and I’m excited to share a few changes coming in the new year!
New Website – Coming February 9, 2022
We’ve just launched our Beta Website and want to invite 100 Testers. We have 15 spots open if you’d like to join! You’ll participate in 3x 5-minute tests and for feedback. The first test is around the new look and feel (including accessibility features), search, and discoverability.
Audio Articles Season 2 – Scheduled for February 2, 2023
With all of the lovely responses to Season 1 of our Audio Articles, we’ve immediately begun pre-production on Season 2!
Rebecca is already back in the studio and, once I’m over my horrible flu, I will be joining her as we add new article formats based on your member feedback. We have episodes planned for Star Wars, Dune, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, along with a few more Stargate favorites.
You can listen to Season 1 now:
Highlights of 2022
I can’t believe the year is nearly over and there were some amazing highlights at The Companion. Here are a few to catch up on.
Brad Wright and Richard Dean Anderson reunited for the first time in 10 years
We were honored by The Webby Awards for Stargate A.I. v1.0 as one of the internet’s 10 best experiences, and we gave it an upgrade with Stargate A.I. v2.0: SG-1
We re-opened the case and rediscovered the love of The X-Files’ Doggett and Reyes with Annabeth Gish, Robert Patrick, and the characters’ creator Frank Spotnitz
Firefly and Stargate Atlantis star Jewel Staite joined the ranks of Uplifting Women in Film & TV
Christopher Judge made his long-awaited debut with the powerful Elevating Black Voices in Sci-Fi
A Few Causes We Supported in 2022
Over the last year, we’ve been making small donations to various non-profits, oftentimes spearheaded by the wonderful guests we’ve had on The Companion. These donations are only possible because of you and we wanted to spotlight these organizations:
Voices of Children Foundation – providing psychological support to children affected by the war in Ukraine
British Columbia Children’s Hospital in Vancouver – In conjunction with Paul McGillion
Hollywood Food Coalition – providing hunger relief during Thanksgiving. In conjunction with John Billingsley
Planetary Society – advancing space science and exploration. In conjunction with Robert Picardo
Lifewater Canada – bringing safe and accessible water to people in Africa and Haiti. In conjunction with Torri Higginson
Pancreatic Cancer Action Network – to improve the lives of everyone impacted by pancreatic cancer. In conjunction with Jonathan Frakes
Thank you all for helping make 2022 legendary!
