Star Trek | Here's Your Invite for the George Takei Round Table

Join Jessie Gender, Spotted Giraffe, and Trekspertise’s Kyle Sullivan in a live discussion of George Takei’s life and perspectives.

The third episode of our new interview series To Boldly Ask… starring activist and actor George Takei – Star Trek: The Original Series’ swashbuckling helmsman Hikaru Sulu – was released last weekend exclusively for members of The Companion.

During his revealing 59-minute conversation with veteran Star Trek correspondent Ian Spelling, Takei speaks frankly about the pain of hiding his sexuality, the courage of his late friend Nichelle Nichols, and sounds a vital rallying cry for #BlackLivesMatter.

To further explore Takei’s unique perspectives and insights, we’re hosting a live discussion with three of our favorite names in fandom.

Taking place Saturday 22nd October, 2 pm PDT/5 pm EDT on The Companion, moderator Rebecca Davis will be joined by YouTube essayists Jessie Gender and Trekspertise’s Kyle Sullivan, cosplayer and co-host of Strange New Pod, Spotted Giraffe, to discuss Takei’s experiences of racism and homophobia, Gene Roddenberry’s utopian vision, and the often bumpy road towards ‘Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations’.
