Companion Update

The Companion is 2 Years Old, So Here's a $20 Gift For You

Check your emails for a $20 gift card to spend in our new merch store to celebrate two years of The Companion.

Whoa, it’s been two years since we launched our Beta back on August 31, 2020, and it still feels 2 percent weird and 98 percent exciting (and sometimes it feels 98 percent weird and 2 percent exciting too). It’s weird because we feel like we’ve only just started, and it’s exciting because we’ve only just started.

Re-reading the first-ever post, I feel like we did a pretty good job of delivering what we said we would. And as an aside, I’m so glad we did because honestly I kind of forgot exactly what we had promised.

Long-reads, deep dives, new interviews, new perspectives, and never-before-seen material.

What I couldn’t have imagined was that the never-before-seen material would be projects like Stargate A.I. (I mean what would Google A.I. have anything to do with a sci-fi website), producing an X-Files Reunion, or hosting an anniversary celebration with Richard Dean Anderson (that one even impressed my mom)!

Freaking weird, freaking exciting right?

What was clear, even since those early days, was that The Companion was not going to work if it was just our small team and an idea. The Companion had to be something so much bigger, which includes all of you.

Every single one of you matters. All 3,000 of you… of us.

But, this is still the beginning. Think about it; we’re only 3,000 and yet our combined forces have been able to bring in Brad Wright, Richard Dean Anderson, Michael Shanks, Amanda Tapping, and the cast of Stargate Atlantis (I’m not going to spoil who yet), Star Trek’s Jonathan Frakes and George Takei, and soon our favorite alien. We’ve also heard from some of the incredible people behind Star Wars, The Expanse, Farscape, Dune, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and I’m forgetting so many more.

Can you imagine who we’d be able to bring in if there were 10,000 of us?

So I mentioned a gift…

To celebrate being two years old, we’ve created the first version of our shop and we’ve emailed you a code for $20 off your first purchase. Because nothing is over $15, this is on us – you only have to pay for shipping.

Stock is limited so you have until September 30th to redeem your gift.

If you’re already waiting on a numbered Stargate A.I. script page, it’ll be sent out with your order so now’s the time to make sure we have your address. (Of course, there’s nothing stopping you from using your $20 to buy an extra script page for a friend.)

If you’re still in your free trial period, you can either wait until your trial ends (so make sure auto-renew is turned on) or upgrade your membership now.

If you’re not yet a member, that’s fine too – so you never got around to it. You can sign up now and repeat the steps above.

If you are a member but haven’t received your $20 gift card, you might have unsubscribed to our emails, it might have gone into your spam folder, or, heck, it might just be one of those things. If you’re unable to find it, you can email and we’ll hook you up.

Your $20 gift card can be used on one purchase only. Any money left on the card after your first purchase cannot be redeemed at a later date, but it can go towards additional items in the first order.

Thank you from the bottom of my symbiote

As I sit down to reflect on what’s happened, the thing that I’m most proud of isn’t the articles or events, it’s the friends I’ve met on The Companion. It’s weird that a place on the internet could be so positive, passionate, and actually have no trolls. That only happens because of members like you so thank you so much for finding us, joining us, and sharing in our mission.
