Deborah M. Pratt: Uplifting Women in Film & TV was a live online interview and audience Q&A hosted by Sophie K on Saturday, April 2nd. As an existing Companion member you will be able to watch the extended video replay on demand soon.
Saturday April 2nd, Deborah M. Pratt, who co-created Quantum Leap as executive producer and head writer, was live in conversation with presenter and QL fan Sophie K as part of our series, Uplifting Women in Film & TV.
It was amazing to learn from this powerful woman’s incredible career, her reflections on the changing industry as a woman and woman of color, as well as gather a few insider secrets on the classic Quantum Leap. Deborah’s actually on set for the new pilot right now, so it’s never been more relevant to celebrate her work.
A few weeks ago, we asked Deborah to record a short announcement that we could share on social media, and what she did moved some fans to tears.
For the first time in over a decade, she treated us to the voice of Ziggy, Quantum Leap‘s near-omnipresent narrator and artificial intelligence:
Seriously, chills. Why there’s no Ziggy mindfulness app, I’ll never know.
Allison Pregler, btw, is an authoritative, geek, and funny triple-threat, so watch her video on the lost Quantum Leap ending:
Whilst you’re in a viewing mood, here’s our host Sophie K talking to Black Panther‘s Michael B. Jordan, and the sorely missed King of Wakanda, Chadwick Boseman.
I’ve skipped forward to the Compliments Game so you don’t have to, but the whole thing is great fun.
It would be remiss at this point not to direct you to the first installment of Uplifting Women in Film & TV, featuring the incredible Amanda Tapping who talked about moving from in front of the camera as Sam Carter, to behind the camera as director and producer on Sanctuary, Supergirl, and Motherland: Fort Salem.
For more on the incredible Deborah M. Pratt herself, she previously took her inside the classic episode ‘What Price Gloria?’ (S2, Ep4) in which Sam leaps into the body of a woman for the first time, and an interview on her career and some of the walls she had to break down.
