What We’re Looking At
What We’re Talking About
Sony has acquired Bad Wolf Productions, the production company set up by former Doctor Who execs Jane Tranter and Julie Gardner, for a cool £60m. As Bad Wolf is making Doctor Who for 2022, speculation abounds that Sony is eying up a Doctor Who movie. It doesn’t quite work like that, sorry. Bad Wolf is the decorators and BBC owns the house – if another company buys the decorators, they don’t suddenly own the house.
Animated series Star Trek: Prodigy confirms the return of Robert Betran as Star Trek: Voyager’s Chakotay – now Captain Chakotay – plus new cast members Daveed Diggs as the Andorian Commander Tysess, Jameela Jamil as the Trill Ensign Ascencia, and Jason Alexander as the Tellarite Doctor Noum.
What We’re Watching
What We’re Buying*
*These aren’t sponsored, we don’t get a cut, and nobody sends us freebies. It’s just some cool stuff we’re lusting over hard.
We’re loving this G.I. Joe crewneck with the discreetly embroidered Cobra logo. So subtle, you’ll need Snake Eyes to pick it out.
Get yours for $65 US (approx £48 UK). Go Joe, treat yourself.
Sci-fi fandom needs your help. Nobody else writes the deep dive articles we do. Nobody else creates in-depth interview podcasts or invites you to put questions to showrunners and stars. And nobody else treats your favorite sci-fi shows and movies like they matter – like they can save lives or change them – but we do.
None of that is cheap. Great writing costs money, original analysis costs money, and audio/video production costs money. We keep our costs as low as we can, but we refuse to compromise on quality.
We’re not backed by studios or massive media conglomerates. There are five of us fighting every second to make The Companion all that it can be. We’ll never accept paid advertising on The Companion because if we did we wouldn’t be able to write about whatever you like, the way that you like.
That’s why we need geeks like you to join us.
Sign up now for a free trial. If you don’t like it, simply cancel and you won’t be charged. But if you do stay, your membership goes towards creating more of the content you love on the sci-fi shows and movies that you love.
