What We’re Talking About

- Noah Hawley (Legion, Fargo) is developing an Alien TV show which explores “What happens when the inequality we’re struggling with now isn’t resolved.” Twitter’s ‘war on woke’ banners were unfurled, ignoring that the original movie was about a mega-corporation sacrificing its employees for $$$.
- Disney+ released the first footage from their eclectic new anime anthology Star Wars: Visions. Each short film is animated by a different Japanese studio.
- Also in animated ‘appenings, lost 1967 Doctor Who serial ‘The Evil of the Daleks’ is been animated with the original audio for the forthcoming Blu-ray.
- Shooting has begun on Aquaman 2 with an enigmatic photo from the set. Knives are out online for co-star Amber Heard over her battle with Johnny Depp, but that sort of energy helps no-one, right?
What We’re Watching

Dumb but fun sci-fi actioner The Tomorrow War dropped on Amazon Prime over the weekend. Great set pieces and a charismatic cast led by Chris Pratt and Yvonne Strahovski excuse its wasted opportunities.

The second teaser for Apple TV’s Foundation series – based on the novels by Isaac Asimov – gives us a September 24 release date and new footage. Dune? I can’t say I know her.
What We’re Buying
Note: These aren’t sponsored, we don’t get a cut, and nobody sends us freebies. It’s just some cool stuff we’re lusting over hard.

Vice Press has some gorgeous new Flash Gordon screen-printed posters by illustrator Peter Diamond up for pre-order. The regular design is £44.99, whilst the gold foil variant is £54.99.

Strictly limited to 2,500 copies, James Horner’s orchestral score for Aliens is getting a 35th anniversary green-yellow ‘Acid blood’ vinyl release for Record Store Day 2021 (17 July). It’s only available over the counter so check the list of participating stores and get up early.

These Yellow Power Range Club C 85 Reeboks – priced at £75 – are our pick of the three released so far. The shoeboxes even come together to form a Megazord which is just ridiculous. We love it.

Worth his weight in Beskar, this 7.8″ tall Mando by Iron Studios is modelled on references from his Season 2 set-to aboard Moff Gideon’s Star Destroyer. Pre-order for $145.
