SciFiNow

Editor's Letter

Phew, January felt pretty long this year huh? Oh well, it’s over now and we’re into February which means: pancakes, expensive chocolates shaped into hearts and another issue of SciFiNow+!

We’re starting the month off right with a look into Brandon Cronenberg’s Possessor – one of the surprise horror hits of last year as it heads to its Blu-ray release. We spoke to Cronenberg about creating the movie’s captivating and surreal effects and he explained what he has in common with an elite assassin that transports her mind into her targets…

Talking of getting into the mind of someone else, we also spoke to producer and author Mallory O’Meara, whose biography The Lady from the Black Lagoon delves into the life and work of artist Milicent Patrick, the woman who created the Gill-Man from Creature from the Black Lagoon but who was never given credit for it… and that’s just the start of the story! It really is an incredible tale…

That’s not all we have for you in this issue. Rebellion, which is well-known for its publishing arm (it actually published The Lady from the Black Lagoon!) and video game production, is now moving into the film industry and we review its first movie project, School’s Out Forever, which sees a deadly virus decimate the British population. Ahem…

Also this issue, author Adalyn Grace tells us about All the Tides of Fate (the sequel and concluding novel to last year’s fantasy hit All the Stars and Teeth), actor Marina Sirtis discusses reuniting with The Next Generation cast for Picard and we look back into the weird and wonderful world of Twin Peaks with the show’s creator and writer, Mark Frost.

So let’s wave a firm goodbye to gloomy January and embrace the wonderfully short month that is February. Lemon and sugar with my pancakes if you please…
